Dedicated to the memory of Fliss

This site is a tribute to Fliss, who was born in Bury St Edmonds on April 25, 1954. She is much loved and will always be remembered.  Her family have set up this memorial page for memories, reflections and donations to a much loved charity who she previously work for.

Felicity spent her entire working life serving vulnerable children.

From leaving school she worked in children's homes in Suffolk before training to be a social worker.  She worked as a social worker in Essex from 1978 until 1985 before moving to West Sussex as an In-Take Team manager.  She worked for the NSPCC from 1987-1989 as an area manager for Sussex and Surrey.  She moved to Surrey CC in 1989 and was made Head of Child Protection Unit (1992-1996).  She was made Head of Children’s Services for Surrey in 2006 covering a population of 240,000 children.  She was appointed Head of Safeguarding at Southampton City Council in 2008.  She used her vast social care experience to Chair the Foster Panel at West Sussex County Council between February 09 until last year when she retired due to her cancer diagnosis.

In total, Felicity dedicated 40 years to local government and voluntary sector work for the most vulnerable children.  She was known for building positive relationships with children, their families and professionals alike.  She led by example showing integrity, creativity, resilience and clarity of purpose and provided a visible and accessible leadership to all staff, children and families.
